Brightening vs Lightening: Same Thing?

No, sis! You know that dewy glow we get when we break up with a guy who was no good for us? That's brightening, your life and skin is brighter from lifting all that dead weight from your life! Girl, lightening is when you use topical or internal medicines to alter your skin pigmentation. Love your melanin skin in whatever complexion Goddess gave you!

Now sometimes we have blemishes. Kudos to those with picture perfect skin, but honey child, not all of us are as blessed! This is where skin tone evening creams come in. I suffer hyper pigmentation. In the Summer I like to use skin tone evening moisturizers. If you ever read the labels they are basically sun screens to keep discolored, uneven skin tone from further discoloring.

I have all but ditched all my commercial skincare products because even the ones that claim to be natural are pretty much junk. I still cling to products, so right now I am currently using Earthen Escapes skincare products. I purchased her Earthie Kit.

Turmeric Mask - Oily Skin

{This mask is done best at your nighttime routine because the lemon in this remedy will make you photosensitive! Avoid the sun like a vampire!}
  • 1 tablespoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tablespoons for Lemon Juice
Mix ingredients into a paste and leave the mask on for 10-15 minutes. Rinse well with warm water and follow up with your fave moisturizer! Repeat 2-3 times per week.

Turmeric Mask - Dry/Combo Skin

Honey is a humectant, pulling moisture from the air and sealing it into your skin.
  • 1 teaspoon Turmeric Powder
  • 2 tablespoons Raw Honey
Mix ingredients well with a wooden or plastic spoon. Apply to face, avoiding the eye area. Leave the mask on for 15-20 minutes and rinse well. Repeat 2-3 times per week.

Adulting: Mental Health Awareness Month

I didn't realize my birth month is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. Funny how the first day of the month I have a complete mental breakdown. I'm fine now. Actually the next day I was doing much better.

I knew that transitioning my blog from my budding writing career to a lifestyle blog would be an interesting transition. I am usually secretive and tend to keep my feelings to myself. I knew that somewhere there would be an enemy or foe scowling at my posts, or making jokes at my expense. Which is fine, it comes with the territory. I don't do this for you, I do this for the lone girl that's out there like me. For the person who thinks they are the only one who suffers. I'm open because I'm strong enough to be open. I'm open about my PCOS and the facial hair that comes with it, because I'm inspired by those women who were brave enough to share their experiences.
