Cyster Talk: Supplements for PCOS

I had to learn the hard way, ya'll. I was buying my vitamins and supplements from Vitamin Shoppe 🙈 I thought I was doing the right thing. While the Vitamin Shoppe is better than buying your vitamins and supplements from Walgreens or Wal-Mart, it's still not the best quality. With PCOS you want the very best quality hands down.

Remember that the first step to managing your PCOS is Nutrition. In order for your body to get the full effect of any supplement, you have to have the proper nutrients for the supplements to work with. I'm still struggling with nutrition, no shame 🙋 It's not a diet, it's really a lifestyle change. Supplements don't force the body, they aid the body in self healing + balancing.

Supplements/Herbs for PCOS:

  1. Whole Food Multivitamin
  2. Calcium + Vitamin D
  3. Essential Fatty Acid
  4. Maca
  5. Vitex
  6. Tribulus
  7. Saw Palmetto
Depending on your specific needs, I would suggest heading over here, because all PCOS diagnosis are NOT created equal. We all have similar traits and symptoms, but my symptoms may not be your symptoms. Also, I'm not a doctor or a practicing Herbalist (yet! 😉) so I can't tell you what to take, I can only tell you what I'm taking for my body. Do you due diligence + speak to a healthcare professional, especially if you're already taking medications, because there could be an adverse reaction.

My Supplements:

  1. Amazing Naturals Whole Food Prenatal Once daily!
  2. Herb Pharm Vitex  One dropper in the morning on empty stomach
  3. Herb Pharm Black Cohosh 2-3 droppers 10 days before expected period
  4. Zazzee Naturals PCOSitol One packet under the tongue daily
  5. Traditional Medicinals Healthy Cycle Tea 1-2 cups daily

Tinctures taste horrible. 👎😷 But they absorb quicker than pills, so suck it up! 💪 I struggled between Zazzee Naturals and name brand Ovasitol, but ultimately chose the one better for my pockets, and the one you only need to take once daily. No complaints on Zazzee Naturals, and I think their supplement is why I'm feeling so bloody fantastic! 😃😍 As I mentioned before, brands are very important. I only trust two brands:

I switched Prenatal brands, because the company changed their formula. I have no complaints about the Amazing Naturals brand, they go down easily. I take all my supplements at the beginning of my day all at once, this way I don't forget to take anything. Eventually I am going to add Tribulus and an Essential Fatty Acid (either Cod Liver Oil or Evening Primrose).

Vlog Magick v.6: My Growing Walgreen's Addiction

Hey, lovelies! It's been a while. May is still Mental Health Awareness month, so I'm exercising working on myself this month. It's especially important to me because I'm getting a year older in my dirty thirty's. It's both bittersweet and eye opening. I'm finding my depths this month, more so than I have ever been tried in all my 31 years. I'm finding a strength I didn't know I had in myself, and it's growing everyday. I still have many obstacles to overcome, but day by day, a girl is kicking the ass of all the negativity coming my way. I just keep reminding myself and telling myself that this season is almost over. I'm still winning in my own special way. Lovelies, what ways are you taking care of yourself this month?

Adulting: Mental Health Awareness Month

I didn't realize my birth month is #MentalHealthAwarenessMonth. Funny how the first day of the month I have a complete mental breakdown. I'm fine now. Actually the next day I was doing much better.

I knew that transitioning my blog from my budding writing career to a lifestyle blog would be an interesting transition. I am usually secretive and tend to keep my feelings to myself. I knew that somewhere there would be an enemy or foe scowling at my posts, or making jokes at my expense. Which is fine, it comes with the territory. I don't do this for you, I do this for the lone girl that's out there like me. For the person who thinks they are the only one who suffers. I'm open because I'm strong enough to be open. I'm open about my PCOS and the facial hair that comes with it, because I'm inspired by those women who were brave enough to share their experiences.

I'm experiencing what I'm coining 'Environmental Sadness'. My surroundings are mak…
